Conservation

ImageIf you are in a public restroom and notice that the faucet is leaking or the toilet is running, you need to report this to the manager. I’m sure the manager will appreciate you helping to keep their water bill down.

Renters need to be encouraged to report any leaks to their landlord as soon as possible.

The town needs to work on getting the water bills out sooner. Currently, the bills run two to four weeks behind the meter reading dates. This should be reduced to a one or two-week spread. That way, residences and businesses could detect more quickly if they have costly leaks.

New Water Sources

ImageWe need to search for a new water source that has the least environmental impact.

We could also look into the possibility of adding a new storage tank to the water system. Water could be treated and stored in the new tank just before the peak usage weekends in September and October. This way we wouldn’t be over reaching our current water treatment capacity on those peak water usage days. The costs estimates of this solution vary depending on the size of the tank, but could reach as high as $1 million for a 1-million gallon tank.

The town NEEDS to reach an agreement with ASU to purchase water in case of an emergency.
