Consideration to Both Sides of the Argument If a "Liquor-by-the-Drink" referendum came before the town council, I would consider both sides of the argument.
On the other hand, I realize that many people are driving to Blowing Rock for mixed drinks and this increases the chances of people driving inebriated back to Boone. Also, many students have parties in their apartments where liquor is served in an uncontrolled environment. By allowing liquor-by-the-drink at bars, students might choose going to a bar where the environment is relatively controlled rather than having a party at their apartment where they risk disturbing their neighbors. To conclude, I know this is a controversial topic and, for now, I think we've had enough controversy. Let's focus on some problems that everyone would like to see resolved and later we can tackle these touchy issues. |

I realize that by adopting "Liquor-by-the-Drink" more corporate chains may be attracted to the area which could hurt smaller venues. Also, serving liquor-by-the-drink could increase behavioral problems in public places.
